  • Women Right

    During the British East India Company rule (1757-1857), and the British Raj (1858-1947), measures aiming at amelioration were enacted, including Bengal Sati Regulation, 1829, Hindu Widow’ Remarriage Act, 1856, Female Infanticide Prevention Act, 1870 and Age of Consent Act, 1891. Women’s rights under the Constitution of India mainly include equality, dignity, and freedom from discrimination; additionally, India has various statutes governing the rights of women

  • Land and property rights

    In most Indian families, women do not own any property in their own names, and do not get a share or parental property. Due to weak enforcement of laws protecting them, women continue to have little access to land and property. In India, women’s property rights very depending on religion and tribe and are subject to a complex mix of law and custom, but in principle the move has been towards granting women equal legal rights, especially since the passing of The Hindu succession (Amendment) Act, 2005.

  • Crimes against women

    Crime against women such as rape, acid throwing, dowry killings, honour killings and the forced prostitution of young girls has been reported in India. Police records in India show a high incidence of crimes against women. The National Crime Records Bureau reported in 1998 that by 2010 growth in the rate of crimes against women would exceed the population growth rate. Earlier, many crimes against women were not reported to police due to the social stigma attached to rape and molestation

  • Acid throwing

    A Thomas Reuters Foundation survey says that India in the fourth most dangerous place in the world for women to live in. The survey itself has been criticized for bias. Women belonging to any class, caste, creed or religion can be victims of this cruel of violence and disfigurement, a premeditated crime intended to kill or maim permanently and act as a lesson to put a women in her place. In India, acid attacks on women. who dared to refuse a man’s proposal of marriage or asked for a divorce[105] are a form of revenge. Acid in cheap, easily available, and the quickest way to destroy a woman’s life. The number of acid attacks has been rising.

  • SERVICES DELIVERED

    This program enables women to combine their domestic responsibilities withe generation. It promotes livelihoods and entrepreneurial intiatives in the sluml/village. By wonderful products produced by our community,This may help them temporarily but in the long run it increases their vulnerability. Forcussed group discussions held in the slum/vilage revealed that some women were paying as high as much as 84% interest per year. Directly increasing their financial health and enabling their aspirations.This encourages poor women to save regularly so that they have access to credit at low rates when they need it.

  • Thriftand Credi Program

    How do the poor tide over a crisis ? With little or no savings and no social security system in place, most of them turn to better off relatives of employers for help. They are the more fortunate ones. Others mortgage their jewellery and take loans against high rates of interest. This may help them temporarily but in the long run it increases their vulnerability. Forcussed group discussions held in the slum/vilage revealed that some women were paying as high as much as 84% interest per annum (Rs. 7 Per Rs. 100) Banking systems do not attract savings of the poor due to the bureaucratic procedures and inflexiblity of the banking system.
